QWomen – Empowering Women in Quantum


QWomen is a department of QWorld dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the quantum field. Worldwide, women in science and technology – and especially in quantum technologies – are still underrepresented in growing communities. This is an important challenge, and QWomen actively works to change this reality.

We encourage the participation of girls and women in the quantum world by offering opportunities for learning, development, visibility, career growth, and leadership. Today, the quantum ecosystem offers many paths – from quantum science communication, through academic and industry careers, to quantum entrepreneurship.

Our mission is quantum for all, with women fully on board the quantum revolution.


Our vision for 2026

In 2026, QWomen aims to build a strong and inspired global women’s community that attracts, includes, educates, motivates, and supports girls and women in the quantum technology world.

We will organize inclusive events, expert webinars, discussion meetings, mentoring activities, and community-driven initiatives that grow our network and create a welcoming space for exchange, learning, and collaboration. Our goal is to provide knowledge, role models, support, and open career opportunities for current and future generations.

QWomen is open to students, educators, researchers, professionals, and all allies who believe in equal opportunities. By joining QWomen, you become part of a supportive international community that shares experience, inspiration, and practical pathways into the quantum field.

QWomen is not only a program – it is a community, a voice, and a future!


Our short history

The first event of QWorld was a women-exclusive quantum programming workshop (QBronze) co-organized by QLatvia and RigaTechGirls in 2018. The two teams organized their second joint QBronze in 2019:

In 2019, QTurkey organized two gender-balanced QBronze:

By the end of 2019, a QBronze was organized in Vilnius on December 14-15, 2019 by QLatvia and Vilnius Girls Code.

QSisters was initiated under the QWomen network in December 2019 by establishment of QWomen@Istanbul and QWomen@Ankara.

  • The first event by QWomen@Istanbul was a QBronze co-organized with QTurkey on March 7-8, 2020.
  • The first event by QWomen@Ankara was a one-day QTalk held on March 7, 2020.

QSisters

QSisters are the city-based groups under the QWomen network.

QWomen@İstanbul is established in December 2019, as the first local community under QWomen. Our aim to share our knowledge, learn and inspire one another and to involve more women in the area of quantum technologies.

QWomen Ankara is established in Ankara, Turkey. It is the second local community under QWomen in colloboration with QTurkey. Sharing knowledge, learning and inspiring other women in quantum technologies and building awareness about technology is our main goal. We want to create our local community of women involved in quantum technologies.
